VIDEO: Footage Going VIRAL Mason Greenwood RETURNS To Manchester United for Pre Season
Mason Greenwood has been seen training with former Manchester United teammate Shola Shoretire, as the club's executives contemplate his future.
The forward, having completed his loan tenure with Spanish side Getafe, is now back in the UK. Numerous clubs have shown interest in signing him, but a transfer is yet to take place.
Greenwood, aged 22, was cleared of charges that included attempted rape, coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, by the Crown Prosecution Service last February.
He has been maintaining his fitness with fellow academy product Shoretire. The pair were photographed training on a football pitch in Manchester.
Dressed in a Jamaican national team shirt, Greenwood was spotted with a pair of orange boots whilst Shoretire appeared in a tracksuit, reports the Mirror.
20 year old Shoretire, who left United earlier this summer at the end of his contract, once held the title of United's youngest-ever player in Europe. He is currently without a club.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, new minority owner of United, hinted that decisions concerning Greenwood would be made soon. Earlier this year, he remarked: "We will make a decision, correct. All I can do is talk about the principle of how we will approach decisions like that. Is he the right type of footballer, are we happy with if is he a good person or not?
"He's a Manchester United footballer, so we are in charge of football. So the answer is 'Yeah, we have to make decisions.' It's quite clear we have to make a decision. There is no decision that's been made.
"He's on loan obviously, but he's not the only one. We've got one or two footballers that we have to deal with and we have to make a decision on so we will do that. The process will be: understand the facts not the hype.
"Then try and come to fair decision on the basis of values, which is basically is he a good guy or not? Could he play sincerely for Manchester United well, would we be comfortable with it and would the fans be comfortable with it?"
Greenwood has just a year remaining on his Old Trafford contract. He has already expressed his desire for his future to be decided within the next week.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News on Saturday, Greenwood is not expected to return to United training at Carrington tomorrow. Marseille, Lazio and Getafe are among the six clubs to have been strongly linked with him, with the French and Italian outfits currently the only ones to propose a fee.
However, the latter's president Angel Torres previously expressed his desire to sign the striker permanently. Speaking with Radio Marca, he said: "If it depends on the boy and the parents, he will continue another year. Manchester, the news we have from last week, the thing is that if there is a good offer they would like to sell. Because he is not going to return there.
"So we are going to have to wait a month and a half or two months, until the end of June. But it depends on him and the family. They are very comfortable and very happy with the fans.
"He had not played for 16 months when he arrived and we have recovered him, he has scored eight goals in the League and two in the Cup and he has given a great performance."
